 | December (6th) - Open 5 Results for Team Castleberg
Team Castleberg had another successful day at the Third Haglofs Open 5 Race!
Jill & Sharon and Chris & Tracey raced on Sunday near Bacup in Lancashire in some pretty foul conditions.
Battling the conditions - Both our teams did very well coping with the cold, wet and snow conditions racing through some diverse landscapes including some very exposed hills!
Jill and Sharon finished 5th despite a 20 minute chain-changing epic and having to go back to running the course to keep warm. They are now 2nd overall in the Ladies Pairs for the Open 5 series.
Tracey and Chris also had a brilliant day - they finished 5th as well and had a great time on the single-track sections. They are now 3rd in the Mixed Pairs category of the Open 5 series - a brilliant result!
Podium finish? - It's perhaps a bit early to tell but, fingers crossed, we could be in for 2 podium finishes this season on the Open 5!

November (9th) - Open 5 Results for Team Castleberg
Team Castleberg Outdoors have had an excellent day out; beautiful weather, fantastic location, perfect race planning, and high performing kit!
Jill, Sharon, Chris and Tracey from Team Castleberg Outdoors headed down to the beautiful Shropshire Hills on Sunday for race 2 of the 2011/ 12 Open Adventure Series.
Testing kit for us again- wearing the fantastic Icebreaker Tech Tees.
These lovely tops performed really well in a tough test in the Lakes last month, and have worn well again this time. Warm enough for the crisp cold conditions, yet breathable enough to prevent overheating during the more intense sections of the event.
Great results
Jill and Sharon finished in third- in an extremely competitive field of top ladies. An amazing result- we are very proud! Chris and Tracey also excelled- 12th in a very big field- it seems that the popularity of these events is growing and growing.
Overall Tracey and Chris are lying 4th in the mixed pairs table and Jill and Sharon third in the ladies pairs.
Poor James was working at Castleberg Outdoors... and it seems that he missed an amazing day out.

We've just put of Hanwag footwear on the website. Hanwag is new to us and we've been really enjoying the reactions from customers - the fit is great and the quality is superb.

 | Sept (20th) - Brilliant Fjall Raven Winter gear is here!
We are already thinking about snow and cold weather here!! We've just got masses of stock from Fjall Raven including some excellent winter jackets. Alongside the great G-1000 range they make some practical and very stylish insulated winter coats.
As Fjall Raven is a Swedish brand, they are well versed in coping with bad weather so whatever you buy, it will serve you well.

July (8th) - Yet Another UK Salomon Exclusive!! Salomon Speedcross 3
We've all been debating how they could improve the Salomon Speedcross 3. We are not sure there's so much to do! The Speedcross is one of our best selling shoes and for off road running it's hard to beat - a great fit, lots of cushioning and lots of grip. Some of our customers do long distance races in this shoe and it's more than up to the job.
We've been lucky enough to be offer the chance to get the Speedcross 3 a little early! It's due in September but we have a limited run of mens and ladies shoes.

 | July (2nd) - Another UK Exclusive!! Salomon S-LAB Fellcross
The shoe we've all been waiting for is finally in. The Salomon S-LAB Fellcross is the product of many months of development with top UK fell runners. It's derived from the Salomon Speedcross but has numerous improvements. It sits much lower (about half the height of the Speedcross at the heel) , it uses super-light upper materials and best of all it features a new sole unit which offers improved grip on ascents and descents. The sole unit is all new - taller lugs with a new design and a harder compound - it offers improved grip on loose and wet terrain.

 | April (4th) - Team Castleberg Outdoors - Open 5 Final Round Results
Congratulations to all the Team Castleberg Outdoors Members - the final Open 5 Series event at Grizedale in the Lake District was another successful event for the team.
Jill and Sharon's amazing performance saw them coming in second on the day and second in the female pairs category for the overall event - this from only competing in 3 of the races (one of which was in dreadful weather!).
Alongside a strong finishing performance from Jill and Sharon, Mike had a tough day in the Male Solo category - finishing in the middle of the table after stopping to help out after a fellow competitor had a bad spill during the race. James had a better day - James and Mick finished 14th out of 44.

 | December (17th) - Paramo Torres Jacket - It's Here!
Just Arrived today. The new Paramo Torres Jacket is here.
With it's lightweigh, weather resistant outer fabric and lightweight synthetic insulation I am sure it'll be especially popular over the coming weeks.
Sizing seems to about right - it's not particularly over-sized like the Torres smock. Please get in touch if you need any further information.

December (10th) - Haglofs Endo Jacket - Watch This Space
We are already looking forward to next Autumn/Winter season. Having just seen the Haglofs range for next year - we've seen lots of exciting new products.
In particular, we're really excited about the new Gore-Tex Active Shell Jacket - the Haglofs Endo jacket. Active Shell promises alot - as breathable as a windproof fabric yet fully waterproof and extremely lightweight.
The Haglofs Endo Jacket looks certain to be the replacement for the Lim range of Haglofs jackets although it will still be significantly heavier than the Ozo Pullovers.

| November (27th) - Paramo Torres Jacket - Pre Order Here
Just posted today. We are now taking orders for the Paramo Torres Jacket. We are expecting delivery around mid December and because demand has been so high for the jacket we are now taking orders from customers via the shop, email or the website to secure a jacket when they are with us.
Much like the flexible Torres Gilet and the Torres smock - the Torres Jacket should prove a firm winter favourite with many of our customers. Using synthetic insulation - it's light, compacts easily and can be worn in a wide range of weather conditions. It's bound to be a sell out when it arrives. November (16th) - UK Exclusive - Salomon Speedcross 2 GTX
New in today! We've just secured a run of Salomon Speedcross 2 GTX in Red and Grey. We are the only retailer in the country with these shoes and there is limited stock.
The Speedcross 2 is one of the two most popular running and fast/light shoes in the shop. It has a classic appeal as a running shoe - lots of grip and lots of heel cushioning, it has growing appeal to non-runners who are looking for a lighter, more comfortable shoe than a more traditional approach shoe. We reckon the GTX version of the Speedcross 2 will find a growing market of runners and walkers alike.

 | November (8th) - Team Castleberg is Number 1!
We are just in the early stages of sponsoring an adventure racing team. Jill Eccleston and Sharon McDonald are the primary members and in the first race of the Open 5 Endurance series Team Castleberg won!
A brilliant effort on the day and lots of hard training all round saw the girls win the female pairs category in the first open five held at Slaidburn, Forest of Bowland. Team www.castlebergoutdoors.co.uk now tops the female pairs table.

Preparations are in full swing for our Paramo Special Event, starting on the 22nd of October. Call in and see us- we have a Paramo rep with us on the 23rd October, and there is a huge range of fantastic Paramo clothing to browse through.

We have just launched our new Fjall Raven section on the website.
We've only had the brand in-store a little while and we are really excited about Fjall Raven already.

The Jack Wolfskin winter delivery has arrived.
It's been a hive of activity here to get it all booked in and out into the shop.
In terms of highlights - we've got some great 3-in-1 jackets - the Cold Valley in Mens and Womens. Also we've got some lighter-weight down jackets - in particular the Mens Atmosphere - which can be worn as a sub-layer as well as an outer layer.

September (16th) - New Look Haglofs Department
We've all been working really hard last week and this weekend to get the new Winter Haglofs clothing booked in and out into the shop.
We've taken the opportunity to re-vamp the displays downstairs and we've now got a lot more space for the Haglofs Winter items.
We are particularly excited about the Haglofs Bivvy down jackets. These have been attracting a lot of attention from customers over the weekend.
It's just a shame that there is such a limited stock.

 | September (15th) - Coming soon - the Paramo Torres Jacket
Watch this space! In the next few weeks we'll be one of the first to get the New Paramo Torres Jacket.
The Torres Jacket will carry with the design remit for over-insulation (i.e. insulation that can be worn over the top of waterproof clothing) - but the full zip format will be a nod towards the fact that a lot of current users of the torres smock and torres gilet use them on their own as well.
We are looking forward to the new Torres jacket arriving - hopefully in the next week or so!

September (12th) - Settle Loop Tough Trail Race
We were all up at the Settle Loop Tough Trail Race this morning. We've helped to sponsor the race again this year and alongside providing some smart new numbers we've been able to get quite a few prizes for the event as well (thanks to Haglofs in particular).
Apart from the fact that we all had a really nice time - it's been a successful day. The turnout was good, the weather was perfect (no rain) and everyone was happy with the prizes. Much like last year - there's quite a lot of talk about some of us running in it next year...

 | Aug (6th) - Coming soon Haglofs Boots & Shoes
We've got a new range of Haglofs boots and shoes coming in soon.
Due in the next few weeks - we'll be stocking the Haglofs Solid Lite boot amongst others. We've already had a few pairs on test and feedback has been good. The boots come with a Sole custom mouldable insole and with the addition of this fit has proved excellent.
As will all the Haglofs gear - the quality of the footwear is second to none.

Aug (5th) - Settle Loop ToughTrail Race
We've just heard that the Settle Loop Tough TrailRace is scheduled for Sunday 12th September 2010.
The race follows the classic running/mountain biking Settle Loop trail and takes in some of the best scenery in the area. It's around 8.5 Miles and 1200ft ascent/descent.
It's organised locally and is in aid of the local scout group. If you are interested - there's some more information on their website here...

 | Aug (4th) - More - New from Paramo
More news from Paramo on new clothing for the Autumn/Winter.
Due soon is a new waterproof trouser - the Pajaro Trouser. It's primarily designed with less ventilation in mind but more comfort. It will be ideal for bird watchers and photographers and for anyone who needs the sort of weather protection you get from Paramo.
One of the key features will be large leg cargo pocket. Initially, it will be available in mens sizes and in moss green. It's due in with us next month.

The Summer holidays are here and we are busy making preparations for our busiest Autumn so far! We are getting really excited as Paramo are finally launching a Women's Velez Light Trouser from September and we'll be one of the first stores to have them in. The Ladies Velez Light trouser will feature all the same great details as the Men's trouser:
The Velez Light Ladies waterproof trouser will have a belt (and belt loops), articulated knee, side vents and Velcro adjustment on the hem. Aside from a Women's specific cut, there is no word yet on leg length options other than the standard 'Regular' leg length

 | Jun (10th) - New Banner
We've just uploaded a new banner for the Website taken by Gary Fitch. This one is a shot of Ingleborough taken in the sunlight of a late summer evening. Ingleborough is one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
The 3 peaks one of the most popular attractions locally - at least one or two of them are on the itinerary of walkers visiting the area and many come to take all 3 on in one day.

Jun (1st) - Paramo Vista News
We've had the Vista in for a couple of months now and wanted to post an update on our progress with the jacket. We've had to wait a while longer though as the weather has been either cold and dry or warm and dry so short of using a hosepipe, we have yet to get enough use to really comment on the full capabilities of the jacket.
However, the weather is changing and we are getting a more rounded picture of the performance of the jacket and some useful comments from customers to boot.
In particular, two things stick out about the jacket at the moment. Firstly, as the lightest Paramo yet (by virtue of a lack of zips and other features) it's brilliantly packable given the level of comfort and performance you get. It easily stows away in a pack. Secondly, we love the position of the main pockets on the jacket - a nice height for comfort whilst walking and yet out of the way for wearing packs or harnesses.

| May (22nd) - New Paramo Gear
We just been looking at the new Paramo gear for the winter season and it's looking even more impressive. We can't say too much but they are finally making a ladies fit for the Velez trousers - this is very welcome and we've spoken to lots and lots of customers who love the performance of the trousers - this is bound to be a popular item in the autumn when it's released. We are also really excited to see that there will be a specific Pajaro trouser in Moss green on offer from the Autumn. It will use Paramo's regular weight waterproof analogy fabrics and will provide a great alternative to the classic Cascada waterproof trousers.

May (20th) - Well Done Gigg to Gigg 3 'Peakers'
Well done to all participants in this year's Gigg to Gigg 3 Peaks Challenge. In a record-breaking year all 50 entrants went on to complete the 38 mile walk and finish the event. Even the headmaster made it round! The event is great for the students, staff and parents who participate but the main aim is to raise funds for the Ananda Marga orphanage near Mombasa in Kenya.
We helped again this year by providing hats for all participants!

 | Apr (25th) - More Limited Edition Colours
We've just got delivery of some more limited edition Paramo jackets. We are really excited about these ones as they are all versions of the Paramo lightweight waterproof jackets and smocks. We've had some amazing feedback from customers this past year about the Velez Light and Quito jackets. Now we've added the Vista jacket to this line up there's a great range of Paramo light jackets.
The new Limited Edition Colours are likely to be firm favourites. We've got the Velez Light Smock in Citrus (it's bright) and the New Vista jacket in Citrus also - if you run, bike or hike and need to be seen, the Velez light and Vista light in Citrus is going to be a great option.
We've also got a limited run of Quito light jackets in Black with Grey trim. If the bright butternut colour or the fir green doesn't work for you, then the Black will be a really subtle alternative.

Apr (10th) - Haglofs Ready to Go
Our Haglofs Section is now fully in-store and online. In the short time that it's been in place we've been really impressed by the response from customers. Apart from the fact that all the Haglofs gear looks really nice, we've had a lot of feeddback about how much people appreciate the quality of the clothing and equipment - there's definately a serious Haglofs fan base out there.
Our current favourite item is the Haglofs Rugged Fjell pant - we are having trouble keeping it in stock. The Rugged Fjell pant is well worth a look - it's really an all year trouser and apart from all the pockets and features you could need, the fabrics are really comfortable to wear and the quality is really impressive (they really are rugged).

Gary Fitch (see earlier items) has supplied us with some new web banners. All of them are of local scenery or landmarks.
We've posted up the one of Attermire Scar - this is part of the local scenery and is only a few minutes away from the shop.

Mar (17th) - Paramo Special Event 2nd April to 11th April
We'll be holding a spring Paramo special event this year over Easter. The Paramo event will run from Good Friday (2nd April) to Sunday 11th April.
We'll be one of the first dealers to have the Paramo Vista Waterproof Jacket in stock - it's the new Paramo lightweight jacket. It's a little more stripped down that the Quito (no side vents) and will feature two external zipped pockets (positioned higher up the jacket to allow for harnesses and rucksacks to be worn without hindering access to the pockets). It will be a shorter cut, much like the Quito and comes in some great colours....
Alongside the New Paramo Vista jacket, we'll be getting all the new colours in the Velez Adventure Light Smocks and the new lightweight Torres Gilet....
We'll have some great offers on during the event and lots of Paramo Sale items and bargains for you - Hope to see you there...

| Mar (16th) - Haglofs Now Online
We've just in the process of getting our Haglofs stock online. As well as re-organising the shop, we've been busy adding Haglofs waterproofs, Haglofs Fleeces, Haglofs softshell jackets and Haglofs rucksacks to the website. If you don't know much about the brand, it's a functional, very high quality clothing and equipment brand.
We've been testing Haglofs waterproofs for a while now and along with the softshell and base layers we've been really happy with the performance and with the quality of the clothing. The rucksacks are also functional and extremely durable..

Feb (26th) - Snowdon Challenge
Andrew Craig is undertaking a great challenge in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign. He's going to climb Mount Snowdon once a week in 2010. These first few weeks he's been battling snow and ice to the summit. He bought a Paramo Adventure Light Smock (pictured here) from us and a pair of Velez Light Trousers and is now a big Paramo fan.

| Feb (8th) - It's Cold Inside
Just in case you've been in this week and noticed a chill in the air - this is just a quick note to apologise for the lack of heating in our shop this week.
It's my fault, I forgot to check the heating oil tank last week and it's now run out. Apparently our oil supplier is super busy and so the heating has been off for six days now. Needless to say all the winter clothing has been on test and we've all got staff issue fingerless gloves. More oil should be on its way tomorrow...

Feb (6th) - Gigg 2 Gigg Walk
We supported the Giggleswick to Giggleswick Three Peaks Challenge last year and we got an email about this year's event from Bill Bartlett this week.
It's due to be held on May 16th and will cover the Yorkshire Three Peaks (Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough). It covers around 32 miles and the group starts from Giggleswick School at 5am and should finish around 9pm!!
