Expert advice, delivering on time, answering emails or calls – it’s important to us to get it right and make you delighted – it means (hopefully) you’ll come back again.
Why are we different? How do we do things? – We believe our strength is in our staff, our shop and what we sell. Our staff because everyone who works for us has a passion for the outdoors, knows the gear inside out and is committed to doing their best for customers. Our shop because it means we talk to customers face to face every day, we learn about what you need and how we perform. What we sell because we have an unrivalled range in our core brands and what we stock is technical, high performance gear – our hope is that you’ll be delighted with what you buy, it’ll perform brilliantly and give years of service.
The reason we are here is to do the right thing. Whether in store or online, we operate on a simple principle – “to treat customers how we’d like to be treated ourselves”. | Who we are | Alison - Customer Services Manager – an all-round organiser, Alison keeps all things and all people working. Alison is a keen hill walker and regular volunteer for events like the annual Three Peaks Fell Race
Catherine - Shop Manager – Catherine laughs in the face of adversity, smiles at every challenge and giggles when faced with chaos and disorder. It's just as well really as Catherine manages the shop and the till system!
Heather – Content Manager - Heather’s new to us but has the vast task of turning blurb into plain English. Heathers a keen hill walker and runner and spends many weeks criss-crossing the Scottish hills in the summer
James – Shop Manager – James runs things day to day in the shop, he’s also our technical shoe and clothing guru. James is a keen trail runner, adventure racer, climber and mountain biker and inventor of the fish sandwich
James (#2) – Sales Assistant – James is the new boy and brings loads of enthusiasm to the team. He’s a very keen climber and aspiring mountain leader – he’s a great cook as well
Kara – Sales Assistant – Kara's our friendly face in the shop and is our expert merchandiser. She loves everything outdoors
Mary - Sales Assistant/Content Manager/Reviewer – Mary has more running achievements that you can shake a stick at and is vastly overqualified for the job. She’s with us while she writes up her PHD and will no doubt run the world sometime very soon
Ruth – Accounts/HR – Ruth’s a runner, hillwalker and mum of three. Ruth sorts all the important bits and she’s the one that says ‘Yes’ when needed. She’s also the boss and reckons she’s been married to Steve for at least 100 years
Steve – Owner – Steve runs the business and does all the bits in between (sometimes). Steve’s a part-time keen runner and hillwalker and is married to Ruth
Vicky – Webmaster – Vicky runs the website and organises content from all us ‘experts’. She’s the quietest and most competent member of the team by far!

| Our Retail Shop - About Us | Our retail shop is in the centre of Settle, North Yorkshire, right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The shop stocks a massive range of top quality outdoor brands.
The shop has been established for over 25 years and our vision is simple - we treat customers how we'd like to be treated ourselves. We only stock brands that offer the best performance, quality and durability. Our customers range from walking enthusiasts to ultra-distance mountain racers and anyone in-between. Everyone who’s on our team are totally approachable, friendly, honest in their advice so please just get in touch or call in if you have any questions.
We're specialists in what we do - we have a unrivalled range in the high quality brands we stock and our team are all outdoor enthusiasts who know how to use it: Haglofs - We have an extensive range and a Haglofs Shop in Shop on site; Salomon - we have a massive range including one of only a few Salomon S-LAB shop in shops in the UK; Fjall Raven - We hold a great range of Fjallraven clothing and equipment; Paramo - we have all the Paramo range in stock (we are a Premier Retailer and one of only a handful of Paramo Approved online Retailers).
Our downstairs departments cater for walkers, trekkers and outdoors enthusiasts in general. Our upstairs sales floor also caters for trail running - including clothing and equipment for trail running, ultra running, mountain marathons and adventure racing and much more…
