Our View: The Alta I Jacket is a classic walking jacket with some great features. It should prove a durable companion for walking and it's comfortable enough for everyday activities - keeping you warm and dry on all counts - a super jacket on all counts.
The Paramo Alta I waterproof jacket is a good, solid walking jacket. It offers a range of features - a longer length to cover below the hips, a durable double storm flap across the front zip, arm vents if needed and extra pockets for maps and more. The fit is that of a classic walking jacket - longer, but not restrictive for walking. As with all the other Paramo waterproofs, the jacket uses the same grade of windproof outer with 'pump' liner inner to make up the classic Paramo Analogy waterproof system (using Nikwax fabrics). As Paramo does not use a waterproof membrane bonded or incorporated into the fabric of the jacket shell, their jackets are soft to the touch, flexible and always comfortable. This also means that the hoods are great - they tend to move with your head as you look around and are fully adjustable, 'hooking' over the head and staying put (without the rattle of rain on the fabric that you get with membrane jacket).
The fit is looser on the Alta I jacket and with the additional length, it makes for a great jacket for those walking or standing still - walkers, bird watchers, photographers and general outdoors enthusiasts.

This is combined with a Directional microfibre outer to deflect wind and rain.
