What’s new about the Paramo Velez Jacket? Well, in our opinion, Paramo have been making leaps and bounds in the design and appeal of their waterproof clothing and the Velez Jacket is no exception. The cut and styling of the jacket is more fitted and designed there’s some nice colours to boot. The Paramo Velez Jacket is designed as a a ‘do-anything’ jacket. It uses a mix of regular weight and lighter weight waterproof fabrics and has an active cut and design that’s ideal for walking, scrambling and biking (as well as winter trail running). Its short(ish) in length but despite a trim fit, it falls just below the hips and covers well for length and has a scooped tail that’s ideal for extra coverage if you are using a bike. The Paramo Velez Jacket itself is full of practical, classic Paramo features that are tried and tested to keep you comfortable in all weathers. The hood has ample volume and plenty of adjustments to keep the rain out in really bad weather. We’ve always really liked the fact that as the Paramo Analogy waterproof layers are so soft, the hoods are comfortable and actually turn with your head really help your vision in poor weather. Alongside a volume adjuster at the rear, 2 aperture adjusters at the front, the hood has reflective detailing and a high collar for keeping the wind and rain out. Being an waterproof jacket designed for a range of uses, the Velez jacket has plenty of ventilation. There’s useful arm vents – Paramo have positioned these with locking zips on the front of the arms (the positioning means they catch more air flow). Also, on the new Paramo Velez Jacket, the large front pockets act as vents too. There’s an inner zip to secure contents and even a look for keys/compass if needed. Breathability and durability have clearly been a focus of the design brief with the Paramo Velez Jacket – Paramo have used a lightweight honeycomb pump liner throughout the interior of the jacket – this makes the jacket nice and light whilst the breathability is excellent. The Velez jacket is one of the first of the Paramo waterproof jackets to feature a combination of the lightweight and regular weight outers on the jackets. On key wear areas around the shoulders and front of the jacket Paramo have used heavier weight materials to assist durability. Little design details abound on the Men’s Velez jacket – Paramo have used some colour reflective accents on assist visibility. All in all, we’ve been impressed with the Paramo Velez Jacket. It’s ideal for customers looking for an all rounder – a jacket that is capable for hillwalking yet light enough for more intense activities and durable enough to take wear and tear.
