Another week closer to summer here at Castleberg and we've had a great time this week. After recovering from the busy weekend of local races and events ( The Fellsman and 3 Peaks race), it was great to hear from Dave (a former stalwart of the Castleberg staff) and we've been busy unpacking our Millet Delivery. Oh, and we've just started running an extra special offer on the website....
Plenty of outdoors action at the weekend has left us all in recovery mode at the start of this week. The Fellsman 61 miler and classic 3 Peaks Fell race draw a national and international crowd of participants and their families and it was brilliant to meet up with customers and friends from all over the country doing these great events. The weather was once again the big talking point. Despite being nearly May we had snow and hail across the weekend (a drop of nearly 20 degrees on what we've just been getting used to)...
It was great to hear from Dave too this week. Dave worked with us for a couple of years before being offered a once in a lifetime job - the technical expert for the largest (and most impressive) cave systems in Vietnam. He's been out there for a few months now and sending back regular reports about the food (and the caves). It was great to hear from him and nice to see that he's taken out a staff tee for a bit of local promotion/posing...
Millet arrived this week. Millet (if you don't already know) is a French brand that's well established in Europe and one of the top outdoor clothing, footwear and clothing brands in France. We've seen plenty of their kit pass through the shop and jumped at the chance when they established an agent in the UK. Last season we got a little taster of Millet rucksacks and clothing in store and this spring we've got even more. We've got some great walking boots and approach shoes and an excellent range of packs that cater for hillwalking and trekking as well as for alpine adventures. Alongside the great packs, we've also got a range of Millet clothing. There's some multipurpose waterproof shells and some excellent technical mid layers.
