Our View – Hoka Speedgoat 5 Wide Men:
The Hoka Speedgoat returns as a new shoe from outsole to laces with this wider model being a EE width fitting for extra space in the toebox area. This workhorse of the trail running scene features a Vibram® Megagrip with Traction Lug for upgraded grip and braking power on loose ground.
Now a significantly lighter than its predecessor, the Speedgoat 5 features several design elements that improve performance. The reduction in weight comes from fewer overlays on the upper without compromising on durability while also contributing to a more sustainable construction.
The new upper design supports the foot yet remains flexible enough to not restrict foot splay meaning a roomy, dynamic feel, as well as accommodating for potential foot swell. Refinements to the tongue further add to the feeling of enhanced comfort to the top of the foot.
Cushioning wise, the midsole compound is even lighter than before, delivering HOKA’s signature smooth ride without reducing the stack height. This, combined with the late-stage meta-rocker maximises efficiency and protection on any terrain over any distance.
