Castleberg Outdoors is a specialist independent outdoor retailer first established in 1987. Aside from some of the best prices you'll find, we are hugely focused on customer service. Expert advice, delivering on time, answering emails or calls - it's important to us to get it right and make you delighted - it means (we hope) you'll come back again.
Why are we different? How do we do things? We believe our strength is in our staff, our shop and what we sell. Our staff because everyone who works for us has a passion for the outdoors, knows the gear inside out and is committed to doing their best for customers. Our shop because it means we talk to customers face to face every day, we learn about what you need and how our gear performs for you. What we sell because we have an unrivalled range in our core brands and what we stock is technical, high performance gear - our hope is that you'll be delighted with what you buy, it'll perform brilliantly and give years of service.
The reason we are here is to do the right thing. Whether in store or online, we operate on a simple principle - 'to treat customers how we'd like to be treated ourselves'. Who We Are
Alex - Sales Assistant – Alex does a lot outdoors and loves to hike and run. Alongside exploring the local area with his dog, Alex has tons of experience working in outdoor retail.
Catherine - Shop Manager – Catherine is our stalwart. She's at the shop most days - she laughs in the face of adversity, smiles at every challenge and giggles when faced with chaos and disorder. A runner and outdoor enthusiast who we couldn’t do without - she manages the shop.
Charlotte Sales Supervisor – Charlotte's a walker, biker and climber and loves anything outdoors. She's worked in the store for a while now and knows the place inside out.
Daniel - Sales Assistant - Daniels been helping out during Uni holidays and is a walker and very keen scout.
Holly R Sales Assistant - Holly's a qualified mountain guide and climbing instructor and would rather be outdoors as often as she can.
Mark - Website & Sales Assistant - Mark has nearly as many running shoes as we do. He's into running, hiking and anything outdoors. He's moved to the local area to be closer to the hills and working in the shop is perfect for him as it keeps his shoe collection growing.
Mary - Website & Marketing - Mary's been with us a long time and knows the shop and products inside out. Alongside being a keen road biker and doing anything competitive, Mary has a vast experience of competitive fell running and racing at all levels.
Mick - Sales Assistant - Mick's a retired Maths teacher with a long and varied experience of the outdoors - currently a long distance walker and Camino'er he's a dab hand for advice on walking and hiking.
Ruth - Accounts – Ruth’s a runner, hillwalker, outdoor ed. tutor, and mum of three energetic boys. Ruth sorts all the important bits and she’s the one that says ‘Yes’ when needed.
Steve - Owner – Steve runs the business and does all the bits in between (sometimes). Steve’s a part-time runner, cyclist and hillwalker and is married to Ruth.
Tabitha - Sales Assistant - Tab's is the youngest on the team at the moment but has been helping out for a while now.
Toby - Sales Assistant - Our latest recruit, Toby did a weeks work experience with us and he was so good we asked him back.
Xander - Sales Assistant - helping out at weekends, Xander is super-helpful and can be found helping out all around the shop.

Our Retail Shop
Our retail shop is in the centre of Settle, North Yorkshire, right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The shop stocks a massive range of top quality outdoor brands.
The shop has been established for over 25 years and our vision is simple - we treat customers how we'd like to be treated ourselves. We only stock brands that offer the best performance, quality and durability. Our customers range from walking enthusiasts to ultra-distance mountain racers and anyone in-between. Everyone who’s on our team are totally approachable, friendly, honest in their advice so please just get in touch or call in if you have any questions.
We're specialists in what we do - we have a unrivalled range in the high quality brands we stock and our team are all outdoor enthusiasts who know how to use it. Our downstairs departments cater for walkers, trekkers and outdoors enthusiasts in general. Our upstairs sales floor also caters for trail running - including clothing and equipment for trail running, ultra running, mountain marathons and adventure racing and much more…

We are in the centre of the historic market town of Settle, North Yorkshire.
Finding us is easy - from the centre of town, look towards Castleberg Rock (which overlooks the town) you'll find us!
