Here in the Yorkshire Dales we see our fair share of rain and wind (along with Sun, heat, snow, sleet and much more!). For the Autumn, Winter and Spring many of our customers have been turning to Paramo waterproofs for years.
We've been a long term stockist of the Paramo brand. For the past 25 years (at least) we've stocked Paramo and we truly believe we've seen most of our customers a good few times as they wear, wear out and update their kit. Paramo clothing is well-known for lasting well - we usually quote a 15 year lifespan on a Paramo jacket - if it's washed and reproofed regularly, occasionally repaired you're doing the very best for yourself, your budget and the planet by buying Paramo.
As a long-established retailer, we hold stock of the majority of the Paramo range of waterproof jackets, smocks and trousers. What we don't have, we can usually get pretty quickly. We are all Paramo users too and as we're a store that takes the time to talk to our customers we generally know ourselves or have discussed with customers most things Paramo-related.
Heading into Autumn and winter this year we've been investing in filling gaps in the Paramo range and trying out a few new styles. Alongside our staple-sellers like the Paramo Alta III jacket (the ideal for local hillwalking) we have plenty of new gear.
Here's a few highlights:
New gear - Paramo Caminata Jacket - Men's and Women's. This is a new jacket to the Paramo range and it fills the gap left by the Helki Jacket (which was effectively a simplified Alta III jacket). With an updated cut, slimmed sleeves and good coverage on the body - the Caminata men's and women's jackets offer a Paramo waterproof jacket that both ticks the hillwalking box and general purpose, everyday use box. With it's more streamlined look (without the extra chest pockets) and more subtle two-tone panels under the arms, the Caminata uses the regular weight materials and and the same bomb-proof construction and makes a welcome addition for customer looking for top performance in a simpler package.
New to us - Paramo Velez Evolution smock - Men's and Women's. This double-zippered and fronted Paramo Smock/Jacket is inovative, modern and technical. Alongside it's purpose as a high mountain/alpine piece, a lot of customers love the look and the additional coverage that it gives. Well worth a look as it comes in some great colours too.
Back in stock - Paramo New Aspira 360 smock - New last year, the Aspira 360 was the first generation of Paramo waterproofs that used material from recycled Paramo jackets. Not an easy process to master Paramo have been working on this process for a while and are currently offering the recycled material in their pinnacle jackets and smocks. Rock solid, warm and very robust the Aspira was always a foul weather, colder clime favourite and well-used by mountain rescue and instructors alike.
Good stock of the old faithfuls - Paramo Alta III. What can we say, the Alta III Men's and Women's jackets have been in the range for a while now and are here to stay. We've topped up on all the available colour options and rate this as our go-to for local (Dales and Lakes) hillwalking in terms of features - this jacket has it all and its worth a look over if you are in the market for a long-lasting, high quality waterproof.
Staff Favourite - Paramo Velez Adventure smock. Several of us swear by the Paramo Velez Adventure smock and use it all the time. Recently updated with some well-designed tweaks (like arm vents) the smock is tough, durable and so comfortable to wear - it's shorter length lends itself well to lots of uses (bike, hike, run, walk) and it's virtually indestructible!
