On Thursday the 16th of March we held a La Sportiva running demo. This was an opportunity for members of the public to come and try out the latest running shoes before committing to a purchase while having a La Sportiva expert on hand to support with getting the correct fit.
We had a great turn up with a range of mixed abilities runners, and a range of models to try. Having a choice between Mutants, Prodigo pro, Prodigo Max and the brand new Prodigo 2 was great, each shoe specialises in different terrain, distances and performance so the members of the public could choose a model based on what their desired training was, whether they were buying their first trail shoes or training for an ultramarathon. The evening began at our store in Settle where all runners chose their desired shoes with help from staff members and La Sportiva representative Si.
We then embarked on a 6k social run covering a mix of terrain and elevation. Tackling rocky gravel trails, open sections of land, muddy descents and short road sections. This allowed the runners to get a full sense of how the shoes performed.

‘It was a great chance to chat to other people on their opinions as we were wearing the same shoes over the same terrain’
“Mutants were so much better running in than just trying on in the shop. Traversing grass yes, downhill at race speed yes, comfort yes, even the laces remained tied with just a simple bow.”
The evening was also a great opportunity to meet members of different running clubs. A member of the settle harriers commented
‘It was a great opportunity for us to try out some new shoes and meet some of the other local running clubs from Bentham, Skipton and Pendle’.

We ended the evening back at the store offering snacks and hot drinks after the chilly evening run. All runners were entered into a raffle to win a free pair of shoes which was drawn and won by a lady who is now loving her La Sportivas.
