Our Review of the Inov-8 Mudclaw 275:
The Inov-8 Mudclaw is legendary amongst fell and hill runners who are in search of maximal grip in the wettest, muddiest, most technical conditions and this year Inov-8 have taken the shoe to another level.
Retaining a low, 4mm heel to toe drop the Mudclaw 275 helps you feel in full control across the most challenging terrain providing a close to the ground feel and the flexible Exteroflow midsole enhances this proprioceptive feel even further.
Grip wise the new Mudclaw 275 has been completely redesigned with new 8mm deep lugs designed and positioned for optimal grip and mud shedding in all conditions and at all angles. The new sticky rubber improves on what is already regarded as some of the best traction available on mud, rock and grass and has been extensively tested in a wide range of conditions. For such a stripped back, flexible shoe the cushioning is surprisingly good with 10mm under the heel and 6mm under the forefoot giving plenty of protection when conditions turn a little firmer underfoot.
Moving on to the upper and the fit and protection has been refined from the previous versions with a breathable mesh that drains water well, an integrated overlay that provides structure and support holding the foot securely and adding durability to the shoe. It also features a nice level of protection from the rand that extends around the toes and along the mid foot.
With a stealthy black colourway and hook loops for gaiters the new Mudclaw 275 is sure to be your weapon of choice for training and racing in the worst conditions.
