Our View - Paramo Mens Enduro Windproof Jacket:

The Paramo Mens Enduro Windproof Jacket is designed as a technical mountain jacket and it's been designed to take advantage of Paramo's excellent analogy windproof and waterproof fabrics to bring true flexibility to wearing a mountain shell. The Paramo Mens Enduro Windproof Jacket have been fully developed to work on it's own as a capable windproof jacket or as part of a waterproof system to be worn with the Paramo Enduro Fleece.

Firstly, the windproof fabric is tried and tested. It's density and weight is well suited to high mountain winds, cooler weather and showers, its balance is just right for hill walking and more technical mountain sports.

When worn with the Enduro fleece, it forms a waterproof system, with a windproof/water resistant, breathable shell and an inner liner of directional fleece to limit water ingress and push moisture outwards.

I appreciate that Paramo is not to everyone's liking. I stuck with it because I thought the concept was excellent and that I really should like it. I have been fortunate enough to be issued some Paramo kit through Mountain Rescue and effectively get to trial it without paying a lot of money for something that may not have met my expectations.
In the past I have found Paramo's kit to be loose fitting and therefore a bit cumbersome to wear. Functional yes, hard wearing yes, warm and waterproof yes but close fitting and non cumbersome no. I have worn the Alta jacket and the Fuera jacket, both technically excellent but flappy and to be honest not that nice to wear. I'm 5'11 and 13 stone so pretty average, I'm sure those with a 'slower metabolism' appreciate the more generous cut.
Recently my brother bought the Alta 3 jacket and I have to say that the cut of the new jacket makes a massive difference. It is tailored and is a pleasure to wear. As a result of what appears to be a new apoach to the cut ot Paramo products I purchased the ENDURO Windproof jacket. The Fuera was OK but the Enduro is almost excellent lacking only in a means of securing the hood so it doesn't blow around when not being worn. The problem is exacerbated as it's a big hood that is helmet compatible. The Fuera does have a means of securing the hood. I wore Enduro in the Highlands last weekend and was impressed by its windproof qualities, close fitting so didn't flap about in the wind and showerproof but no more than that so I swapped for a traditional shell when the rain really came down.
I'm now in the market for the Enduro fleece which Paramo say is designed to be worn in conjunction with the windproof to create a fully waterproof system. Time will tell.
