The La Sportiva Crossover 2.0 GTX is a radical all year mountain running shoe that been designed to cope with the worst of terrains in the worst of weathers.
Even just glancing at the La Sportiva Crossover 2.0 GTX, it’s clear that it’s a radical shoe. It’s designed for the mountain runner who needs a shoe that’s capable in the worst of conditions. This shoe is waterproof, grippy and features an extended, integrated gaiter that’ll mean virtually nothing gets in.
The basis for the La Sportiva Crossover 2.0 GTX is the La Sportiva Mutant sole and midsole – it’s sticky, grippy and has lugs that are deep but not overly aggressive – a great all round sole unit for mountain trails (and off-trails).
The upper to the shoe is in 2 parts. The outer is continuous upper and gaiter – sealed with a waterproof YKK locking zip. Underneath this, a La Sportiva Mutant-esque waterproof shoe lurks.
Due to the cushioned and well-structured Mutant midsole, the upper is also firm and the whole shoe is designed to be supportive over tough terrain.
A really nice feature is the heel on the La Sportiva Crossover 2.0 GTX. It’s sewn into the outer – making it continuous and seamless from the upper into the gaiter of the shoe.
The lacing is relatively restrained for la sportive – it’s accessed via the zip gaiter and is designed to be easy to tighten.
The upper also features an enhanced toe bumper and side protection and creates a protective barrier against knocks and scrapes more akin to a walking boot than a trail shoe.
The top of the shoe features a grip lock cord on the gaiter that allows you to fully seal the shoe once it’s on. It’s well thought out and will help keep the worst of the mud, rocks and grit out.
All in all the La Sportiva Crossover 2.0 GTX is ideal for the mountain running enthusiast looking to run, train and compete all year and in all conditions. If this shoe won’t keep you on the trails in the worst of the weather, nothing will!
