Paramo Men's Alta III Waterproof Jacket
Our View - Paramo Men's Alta III Waterproof Jacket:
The Paramo Mens Alta III waterproof jacket is an well thought out update on the previous generation Paramo waterproof jacket (which ran for 12 years). The Alta III is an updated design that gives the jacket a fresh, modern look with a slightly more tailored fit compared to the very generous Alta II. The Alta III is design for cooler, heavier weather. Weighting in at 805g, it offers full weather protection, warm and exceptional breathability. It is light enough to be stored in your pack when not in use but breathable enough to me worn in comfort most of the time. It’s two-layer Nikwax Analogy fabric construction means it’s virtually indestructible and you have the backup of a lifetime guarantee (for labour and materials) and a full UK repairs service.
The Mens Alta III continues to employ Paramo’s unique Nikwax Analogy fabric technology, which pushes water away from the skin through the liner layer (the liner has been updated, made lighter and given extra-breathable mesh in key areas) whilst maintaining insulation to keep you warm and dry. When combined with the windproof outer fabric you will be fully protected against the elements. In line with other recent new Paramo jackets the Alta III includes reinforced rapid drying mesh pump liner panels in the shoulders, middle of the back to improve breathability in these key areas. The same mesh pump liner is also placed inside the upper arm vents so that they can remain open in rain without water getting inside.
The fit of the Mens Alta III has been optimised with fully articulated sleeves and shoulders and has a slightly longer cut to provide extra coverage and prevent the hem riding up. The fully-adjustable hood has been updated to offer an improved fit and to ensure vision is maintained at all times even with googles or glasses. It can be rolled away and stored in the collar when not in use and the unique dual stretch adjust mechanisms retains the cord ends safely and comfortably.
Highly versatile ventilation is achieved thanks to the full length two-way locking front zip, which has an internal storm flap to maximise protection when done up, but can be opened and secured when increased airflow is required. Under arm vents offer airflow without the need to open the front zip or with both open increase this further. Sleeves are easy to roll up thanks to the low bulk cuffs and can be secured with the adjustable fastener.
The Paramo Mens Alta III Jacket has been designed with the wildest mountain adventures in mind and to cope with this the jacket offers exceptional carrying capacity with six pockets. There are two large hand warmer pockets, a large ‘dry’ OS map pocket on the chest, a second fast access chest pocket with secure D-ring attachment and two further internal pockets.
The Mens Alta III is a serious jacket for all year use and all conditions. It is a highly versatile, hard-wearing jacket that is has multiple technically designed features to help you make the most of your outdoor adventures. The unique Nikwax Analogy technology will keep you protected what the weather whilst remaining highly breathable however hard you work and the updates to the new version of the Alta jacket have made a very popular jacket even better.
